HongKongCupid.com does NOT openly acknowledge that it uses "suppliers" which is common in international themed online dating services, however if a dating website is using suppliers, they should have a in-person meet up function, because otherwise, we're stuck with these guessing games.
For example in their terms they say things like this:
“we may register you with our friendly services … depending on your profile settings and our matching algorithm.”
or
“Use of Personal Data for the Primary Purpose will include the use of Personal Data in automated decision-making processes.”
For those of us who study these things, that sounds like they use "suppliers" or third party services to potentially chat with you. Now, people who don't understand online dating may automatically conclude scam, but the government(s) of the world have employed all sorts of regulatory frameworks, which in our opinion have destroyed online dating.
A lot of "dating" websites for example put their users at risk for human trafficking, that's where suppliers come in, they can clean up the quality of the dating website, by for example providing translation services. If you're a mature man Foreign Affair offers translation services because they're providing in-person international, introduction dating services.
Because there are a lot of scammers online, Foreign Affair will use suppliers for it's translation services, as a premium service instead of doing the whole Google translate back and forth, and also Foreign Affair keeps it's members out of legal troubles if they use their services. Now, if you don't understand the boring legalities, you'd misinterpret what's actually going on.
I use Foreign Affair as an example because it's the first thing I noticed when doing my HongKongCupid.com review. Difference being is that Foreign Affair is entirely U.S. based.
HongKongCupid has operations in the U.S. but they also have operations outside the U.S. I'm not saying U.S. laws are perfect, but our review history shows that the non-U.S. dating companies tend to engage in most fraud.
